International School in Nacka
Scholarship Foundation

The scholarship fund
was founded in 1996 with the assistance of donations. The fund has as an intention to encourage and create an openness between cultures and to promote learning. The concept of such a fund at compulsory school level dependent upon voluntary private donations is unique in Sweden.

Students in classes 7-9 voluntarily participate in an essay competition. The awarded scholarship allows a student or students to enjoy the opportunity of visiting and attending an international school abroad for two weeks. Previous recipients of the scholarship have visited USA, New York and California, Madrid (2 students), Amsterdam, Brussels (2 students), Paris and Italy.

The Scholarship Board members has the following  process in selecting the winning essay:

  • All essays are given a code number.
  • The Board reads all the coded essays.
  • The Board grades the essays on a scale from 1-5.
  • Three finalists are chosen by the Board.
  • After the finalists are selected, the essays are decoded.
  • Finalists are announced at school on December  then they are  invited to an individual interview (in English) with the Board
  • The  winner is announced at winter break ceremony.
